ZLS is governed through three organs established under the Zanzibar Law Society Act: the General Assembly, the Council, and the Secretariat.
The supreme organ of the Society, consisting of all members. It meets at least once within six months after 31 December each year, formulates fundamental policies, and elects office bearers and Council members.
The governing body of the Society, composed of the President, Vice President and Treasurer, together with five other members elected by the General Assembly, at least two of whom must be female.
Responsible for day-to-day administration under the Chief Executive Officer, structured around three directorates: Practice Standards, Compliance & Ethics, and Continuing Professional Development.
